Lady Pirate Track 4th in the State!!!!
The Lady Pirates completed a very successful season scoring 31 points and finishing 4th in the state. This is the highest finish for the Lady Pirates since the Gary Childs led team of 1999 which finished 2nd overall.
Kaniya Weatherspoon achieved the first school individual champion since 1994. Kaniya jumped 17-4.5' to win the D3 long jump competition. Kaniya finished the day with 4 "All-State" medals. She was 5th in the 200 and anchored the 2 speed relays.
Hannah Reynard completed the best career in Napoleon Track history. Hannah obtained her 10th "All-State" medal while medaling in 3 events. Her 2nd place in the 300 hurdles set a new school record of 45.25. Cassidy Reid, Ashley Smith, Kaniya, and Hannah combined to set a school record in the 4x100 (50.61). Ashley, Hannah, Kaniya, and Caitlin Smith combined to finish 5th in the 4x200.

Jackson County Honor Roll Meet
The Lady Pirate track team had many outstanding
performances at the Selby Honor Roll Meet. Kaniya Weatherspoon was named
“Most Outstanding Performer” bringing home victories is 4 events. Kaniya
also set 3 school records on the night. She long jumped 17-6. She
ran the 200 in 26.17. She combined with Caitlin Smith, Ashley Smith, and
Hannah Reynard to set a new school record in the 4x200 of 1:46.26. The
4x100 also was victorious with Cassidy Reid, Ashley, Hannah, and Kaniya.
Hannah Reynard won the 300 hurdles for the 4th year in a row.
Allyssa Kryst finished 2nd in shot put, and Caitlin Smith finished 2nd
in long jump.

MITCA TEAM STATE 5th Place!!!!!
The Lady Pirates traveled to Kent City to compete against the 10 best teams in D3. The girls finished 5th, an improvement on their 6th place finish of 2013. Highlights of the day included Hannah Reynard and Kaniya Weatherspoon winning MITCA State Titles in their events. Hannah won the 300 hurdles (45.89), while Kaniya won long jump (16-9) and the 400 (59.75). McKenzie Smoyer, Allyssa Kryst, and Paige Harcourt also competed and scored well in multiple individual events.
Cascades Conference Champions - 3Peat!!!!
Congratulations to the Lady Pirate Track Team on winning the Conference Championship last night making it 3 years in a row! The team had an excellent night winning 8 of the 17 events including all 4 relays taking first place. Kaniya Weatherspoon was conference champion in the 200 and long jump. Hannah Reynard was conference champion in the 300 hurdles. McKenzie Smoyer was conference champion in the mile.

Onsted Invitational Champions!
The Lady Pirates won the Onsted Invitational defeated 13 competing teams. Highlights of the night included the win in the 4x800 (McKenzie Smoyer, Miranda Hamman, Tessa Staggemeier, Alaina Albert), and the wins in the 200, (Kaniya Weatherspoon), 300 Hurdles (Hannah Reynard), and long jump (Kaniya Weatherspoon.). Caitlin Smith and Cassidy Reid also scored 4 times for the Pirates.

The women's team team was victorious by scoring 155 points, outpacing the 2nd place team of Sand Creek with 103 points. The Lady Pirates brought home 41 medals, scoring in every event! The Lady Pirates took 1st place in the 4x800 (Alaina Albert, McKenzie Smoyer, Savannah Anderson, Tessa Staggemeier), 200 (Kaniya Weatherspoon), Shot Put (Allyssa Kryst), Long Jump (Kaniya Weatherspoon), 400 (Kaniya Weatherspoon). Alaina Albert, McKenzie Smoyer, and Caitlin Smith each scored in 4 events. Great Job Ladies!

Dome Classic Invitational Sweep!
The Napoleon Men's Track & Field team captured their first invitational title in four years this past weekend at the East Jackson Dome Classic. The Pirates battled throughout the day, and sealed the title with a 1-2-3 finish in the 3200 meter run. Leading the way for the Pirates was Ryan Silvestri, who finished 1st in the 3200m Run, 1st in the 800m Run, and 3rd in the 1600m run, as well as a 4th place finish in the 3200m relay along with Billy Dowd, Shayne Palmer and Kyle Allen. Tyler Kryst medaled in two events, taking a 3rd place in the 110m Hurdles, and the win in the 300m Hurdles. Austin Swanepoel and Daniel Simon finished 1-2 in the Discus with throws of 122 and 120. Finally, Taylor Szymchack picked up a 3rd place in the 400m run, Ty McCrum finished 2nd in the 300 hurdles, and Austin Walker took 5th in the shot put.
The Ladies Team had a great day scoring 164 points to the 2nd place team of Onsted's 87 points. Hannah Reynard won the 300 hurdles and Kaniya Weatherspoon won the 200 and long jump. Kaniya also set meet records in the 200 and long jump. Kaniya's 200 time of 26.50 was a new school record. In total the ladies brought home 30 medals. McKenzie Smoyer medaled in 4 different events. Cassidy Reid was very strong in the sprints. Sam Berry, Allyssa Kryst, Harleigh Falor, Lexi Warchock, Riley Bollheimer, Caitlin Smith, Ashley Smith, Courtney Weaver, Paige Harcourt, Tessa Staggemeier, Alaina Albert, and Miranda Hamman all received medals for the Lady Pirates.

The Lady Pirates won the Grass Lake Warrior Invitational. The girls defeated 13 area schools to bring home their first trophy of the year. The team was strong across the board placing 2 scorers in many events. All relays were in the top 3! Event winners included the 4x200 (Cassidy Reid, Ashley Smith, Hannah Reynard, and Kaniya Weatherspoon), Hannah Reynard in the 300 Hurdles, and Kaniya Weatherspoon in the 200. McKenzie Smoyer joined Cassidy, Hannah and Kaniya in scoring during all 4 events. Men's Track Team Sets High Standard For The Season!
The men's had a strong showing at the Grass Lake Invitational today. The team combined to provide some outstanding performances. Ryan Silvestri ran 4 strong races. Ryan placed in the top 3 in the 800, 1600, and 3200. Tyler Kryst took 1st place honors in the 110 Hurdles bring home a gold medal. Austin Swaenepoel threw 124' in disc. Shayne Palmer led off a strong leg of the 4x800 relay. Ian Barnes medaled in the 100. Ty McCrum, Connor Silvestri, and Austin Walker (40-3' shot put) also contributed to the scoring.

MSU Playmakers Invitational 2014
The Lady Pirates finished 5th at the MSU Playmakers Invitational out of 16 teams. The team was lead by 2 event winners. Allyssa Kryst won the shot put with a throw of 33’2”. Kaniya Weatherspoon barely beat teammate Hannah Reynard to win the 400 in 62 seconds. Also medaling for the Lady Pirates were Ashley Smith and Cassidy Reid. McKenzie Smoyer, Harleigh Falor, Paige Harcourt, and Madison Dean each posted top 10 performances in their events. Great Job Ladies!
The Men's Track team finished 10th at the Playmakers True Team Invite. Almost every Pirate runner turned in a personal record at the end of the day. Biggest marks were made by Ryan Silvestri, who ran a 2:05 800m, 4:41 1600, and a 10:33 3200. Ian Barnes finished 7th in the 60m dash, and led two relay teams to fantastic finishes. Again the team had big PR's from the throwers, as Austin's Walker and Swaenepoel threw 39-11 and 37-0.
